Epic2Estes
The Buffalo Bicycle Classic is excited to announce the new Epic2Estes route for the September 9, 2018 scholarship fundraising ride. This iconic one-hundred mile route starting at the University of Colorado Boulder campus has a total elevation gain of 9,273 feet, including eight categorized climbs totaling 6,685 feet.
The BBC is the only bicycle ride to offer a protected west-bound lane closure of Boulder Canyon from Boulder to Nederland. Then you will follow the picturesque Peak to Peak Highway to Estes Park, with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains. After climbing out of Estes Park, the route descends to Lyons and Hygiene, and then parallels the beautiful Front Range back to Boulder. We also offer the shorter Epic 75 mile route, which includes the Boulder Canyon climb, twenty-two miles along the Peak to Peak highway, and a sweeping descent to Lyons in majestic St. Vrain Canyon.
While you’re at it, compete for the King or Queen of the Mountain title in the Boulder Canyon Challenge, an HC Strava-rated 13.5 mile, 2,680 foot climb from the mouth of Boulder Canyon to Barker Reservoir. We award both overall and age-based KOM and QOM winners.
Because of the generous support of our riders, sponsors, donors, and volunteers, the BBC has raised over $3.6M for merit and need-based scholarships to the University of Colorado Boulder. Since the ride was created in 2003, the BBC has supported over four hundred top Colorado high school graduates to attend CU.
